Homeland, the finale.

Homeland no ha sido nominada a nada en los Globos de Oro. Fue una sorpresa, sí, pero en el fondo todos sabíamos que Homeland ya no es lo que solía ser. O al menos, en esta temporada no se ha parecido en nada a lo que solía ser. Habrá una cuarta temporada (que ya no tendrá a Jessica y a Dana Brody como regulares) y entonces sabremos si la gran serie que nos encantaba se ha ido para siempre. Pero después de ver último capítulo de la temporada, sabemos que va a haber algunos cambios... [Spoilers ahead, no sigáis leyendo si no habéis visto el final de temporada]

Homeland didn't receive any nominations in the Golden Globes. It was a surprise, yes, but deep down we all knew Homeland is no longer what it used to be. Or at least, in this season it hasn't be anything like it used to be. There will be a fourth season (that will no longer have Jessica and Dana Brody as regulars) and then we'll know if the show we loved is gone forever. But after watching the very last episode of the season, we know there will be some changes... [Spoilers ahead, stop reading if you haven't watched the season finale]

Durante la promoción de la temporada hubo mucho de "la serie podría seguir sin Carrie o Brody", pero nadie pensó demasiado en eso. Pues bien, deberíamos haberlo hecho. Así, quizás la muerte de Brody a mitad del final de temporada hubiera sido menos sorpresa. No ha sido una gran muerte. Sólo se quedó ahí plantado mientras le ahorcaban. Y sin embargo ahora ya no está y no hacemos más que preguntarnos qué va a pasar la próxima temporada. ¿Se irá Carrie a Turquía? ¿Se quedará con la niña? ¿Y qué pasa con Saul? ¿Y con Quinn? ¿Y el nuevo Director? 

During the promotion of the season there was a lot of "the show could go on without Carrie or Brody", but nobody thought about that too much. Well, we should have. That way, maybe, Brody's death half way through the season finale would have been less of a surprise. It wasn't a great death. He just stood there, while been hanged. And yet now he's gone and we're all wondering what is going to happen next season. Will Carrie go to Turkey? Will she keep the child? What about Saul? And Quinn? And the new Director?

La muerte de Brody también explica las noticias sobre Jessica y Dana. Sin Brody, no tiene mucho sentido que sigan apareciendo. Y sin embargo, en esta temporada Brody no estaba por ahí y sin embargo nos tragamos todas la crisis de Dana. Que no es que yo tenga algo en contra de ella, simplemente me da igual su vida.

Brody's death also explain the news about Jessica and Dana. Without Brody, it doesn't make too much sense for them to show up. And yet, in this season Brody wasn't around and we got to see all of Dana's crisis. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against her, I just don't care about her life.

Fuck you, Saul

Entonces, ¿tan mala ha sido esta temporada? Bueno, ha habido grandes momentos. Brody en Caracas, o descubrir todo lo que tenían montado Saul y Carrie en el psiquiátrico. Pero quizás porque esperábamos algo enorme, esta temporada ha sido un poco decepcionante. Ya sólo queda esperar a la próxima temporada y averiguar cómo la manejan.

So, has this been such a bad season? Well, there have been great moments. Brody in Caracas, or discovering the whole play with Saul and Carrie in the psychiatric. But maybe because we were expecting something huge, this season has been a little disappointing. The only thing left now is to wait for the next season, and see how they handle it.
